Grand Junction Police Car Slams Truck At Intersection

Comments Off

The State Patrol is investigating an accident that occurred in Grand Junction on Friday night when a police officer collided with another vehicle. And it appears he may have been speeding, according to Colorado State Patrol.

An unnamed on-duty officer, in route to a call, struck a Ford F-250 in the intersection of 12 Street and Orchard Avenue. No one was injured.

The police officer had activated his lights and sirens when traveling north through the intersection and collided with the eastbound pickup.

There is a state statute that law enforcement officers have to slow down before entering an intersection with lights and sirens, but the law doesn’t indicate how much a driver must slow down. State Patrol officers must come to a complete stop in those instances, said Sgt. Scott Simons.

State Patrol is reviewing dash camera video with the police to investigate the crash.
