A number of motor vehicles were buried with people in them Saturday in what a Denver official called Colorado’s largest avalanche in history.

The mammoth accident on US-40, just 60 miles to the west of Denver, amazingly resulted in no injuries or deaths. The rescue efforts began just after the avalanche hit at 10:30 a.m. Everyone trapped in their vehicles was successfully rescued because of the quick and well-implemented efforts of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s avalanche rescue team.
