The City of Steamboat Springs has contacted the Colorado Department of Transportation to review safety at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Walton Creek Road after a pedestrian was struck and severely injured by a car there in early February.
CDOT will review the intersection to determine if any safety improvements should be evaluated or put into action, said Pete Mertes, Region 3 traffic engineer in Grand Junction.
Mertes has reviewed the accident report and the most recent accident data available to CDOT about that intersection. On February 24, Mertes will visit Steamboat to review the intersection and continue his investigation.
