A portion of River Road was closed for more than two hours on Thursday morning following a truck accident.
A large box truck was attempting to make a left hand turn off River Road when a pickup truck rear ended it cause it to flip. The driver of the box truck suffered minor injuries, police said.
The truck suffered an estimated $250,000 worth of damage, according to a spokesman for Cornwell Tool, the owner of the truck.
The driver of the pickup truck was cited for careless driving.
In a separate truck accident, which occurred Tuesday, a Grand Junction man told investigators the brakes went out behind the wheel of a loaded-down commercial-trash truck. He plummeted down a stretch of highway near Mesa at 80 mph before crashing into a drainage ditch. He suffered only minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
